Dear prospective student!

This checklist will help you organize your trip to UD!

 

1. Offer

 

Receive your Letter of Acceptance from the University of Debrecen.

 

✔  Yes, I have received it 


2. Transfer of tuition fee
 

Read carefully your Letter of Acceptance.

Check carefully the dates and deadlines.

In case you are from a visa bound country, as soon as your full tuition fee is received, the UD will issue a visa support letter.

3. Visa arrangements (if relevant)


Visit the nearest Hungarian Embassy to start your visa procedure 2 months before your planned arrival to Hungary the latest. Please consult their website in advance! Make sure you meet the immigration requirements (if relevant).

✔  I do not need visa, as I am from a non-visa bound country
 

4. Money
 

Plan the financing of your studies and life in Hungary.


Please consider:

  • Travel and visa costs

  • Tuition fee

  • Accommodation cost

  • Living cost (food, clothing)

  • Study costs (e.g. books, IT essentials)

  • Extras (unexpected expenses)

5. Accommodation
 

Apply for accommodation through the University partner Troubleshooter Info Point in July.

6. Health Insurance
 

Health Insurance is provided for students who paid the tuition fee and registered.

It is compulsory for all students who need a visa to enter Hungary.

The insurance contract will be sent to you along with the visa supporting letter.

7. Compulsory medical check-up
 

Meet the medical check-up procedure and requirements of the University of Debrecen.

8. Make travel arrangements
 

Make sure you arrive by the day of the orientation.

Book an airport pick-up service.

Do PCR test if relevant.

9. Some tips for your check-in luggage:

​

  • Do not pack items that are prohibited in Hungary.

  • Pack something that reminds you of your family, friends and home country.

  • Essential items of clothing: Hungary has 4 seasons, make sure you have basic warm clothes as well.

  • Bring essential electrical equipment: laptop/tablet, charger (laptops are often prohibited in check-in luggage! ), mobile phone, charger, power adapter (if necessary).

  • Check if your electrical equipment is compatible with the socket of Central Europe.

10. Tips for your carry-on luggage:

  • Passport and all travel documents

  • Your student visa (if applicable)

  • Your Letter of Acceptance

  • Travel insurance (if relevant)

  • Originals of school certificates with English translations

  • Your Medical Certificate

  • Your Childhood vaccination booklet

  • Details of Your accommodation

  • 2 passport photos (stamped by authorities if relevant)

  • Bank card

  • Regularly taken medication

  • Necessary contact numbers, photocopies

  • Copies of information about prescription medicine from your doctor in English (if necessary).

  • Contact numbers for your family and friends, including emergency contact details

  • Contact numbers for your insurance company, home bank and for the Coordinating Center for International Education of the University

  • Some masks, hand sanitizer


Please bring those documents that will be needed at arrival or at registration printed, as you may not have access to mobile internet in the first days.
